The Oregon Caves Chateau – The Genuine Oregon Experience

Designed and built in a marble canyon, the six-story Chateau at the Oregon Caves National Monument has offered rustic charm in a serene wooded setting since its opening. Crossing the span of a woodland ravine, the Chateau makes exceptional use of the land’s natural contours, and a stream runs through the dining room.

Today’s visitor to the Oregon Caves National Monument is still offered the experience of the rustic sense of place that the builders and landscape architects created in the early 20th century. Entering the area is much like traveling back into the 1930s. The Chateau is more weathered, though that contributes to its historical gravity and the furnishings still reflect the ambience of the original interior design.

Located just 20 miles east of Cave Junction, Oregon, the Chateau is open from May through late October.

The Chateau has been recognized as one of just three “Great Lodges of Oregon.”

Tour the Oregon Caves

Underground Journey
Step back in time and tour the passages inside Oregon Caves. Exploring the caves has been a tradition for more than a century. All tours are Ranger-lead and your guide will take you through the marble corridors and discuss the caves’ natural and cultural history.

Aboveground Adventures
In addition to exploring the cave, have fun discovering what lies on the surface above the cave. There are a number of different adventures to experience aboveground in our old-growth forest.This region is recognized to be one of the most geologically unique and botanically diverse in the United States, so take advantage of your visit!

2008 Cave Tour Schedule
Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Tours last 90 minutes.

Spring
March 22 – May 23: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Tours on the hour.
May 24 – June 20: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Tours on the hour.

Summer
June 21 – September 1: 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Tours every 30 minutes

Candlelight Tours
June 21 – August 30, Fridays and Saturdays at 6:30 pm

Off-Trail Tours
June 22 – September 7, Sundays at 12:30 pm

Fall
September 2 – October 13: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Tours on the hour.
October 14 -October 26: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Tours on the hour.
October 27 – November 30: Tours at 10 am, 12, 2, and 4 pm.
